MGen. Rommel Francisco Marbil Is New Chief Of Philippine National Police

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has designated Police Major General Rommel Francisco Marbil as the new Chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP), succeeding Police General Benjamin Acorda Jr. who concluded his tenure with retirement on March 31, 2024.

Marbil's appointment was formalized through an official statement issued by the President's office, effective April 1, 2024. A member of the prestigious Philippine Military Academy (PMA) Class of 1991, Marbil brings a wealth of experience and leadership to his new role.

The announcement came during the ceremonial change of command and retirement ceremony held for Acorda at Camp BGen Rafael T. Crame in Quezon City. Marbil's tenure as PNP Chief marks the beginning of a new chapter for the law enforcement agency.

Prior to assuming the position of PNP Chief, Marbil held various key positions within the organization, including heading the Directorate for Comptrollership and serving as the Regional Director of the Police Regional Office 8 (PRO-8) and Director of the Highway Patrol Group (HPG), showcasing his extensive background in law enforcement and administration.

Marbil's appointment underscores the government's commitment to ensuring effective leadership within the PNP and maintaining peace and order throughout the country.
