Authorities arrested Yang Jianxin, the older brother of former presidential economic adviser Michael Yang, as soon as he stepped off a flight at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport on Thursday, September 19.

Yang, also known by his alias Antonio Lim, had just arrived on a Cebu Pacific flight from Cagayan de Oro when officers from the Bureau of Immigration’s Fugitive Search Unit and the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission swooped in. The 54-year-old was the subject of a mission order issued by the BI.

The bureau says Yang is facing deportation because of undesirability and misrepresentation.

The charges stem from allegations that Yang falsely claimed Filipino citizenship and provided false information related to the Phil Sanjia Corporation, a company he owns. On top of that, Filipino employees of the corporation have reportedly filed complaints against Yang for failing to remit their SSS, PAG-IBIG, and PhilHealth contributions.

Following his arrest, Yang was handed over to the PAOCC, which will now investigate these complaints in greater detail.

BI Officer-in-Charge Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado emphasized that Yang could face deportation and blacklisting if found guilty. However, any deportation process will be delayed until all pending cases in the Philippines are resolved.
