In a recent controversy surrounding the Miss Universe Philippines organization, Borg Roxas, the head of productions, has stepped forward to address allegations made by Jef Albea, the official trophy designer for Miss Universe PH 2024.

Albea had publicly stated that he was not compensated for his work, emphasizing the lack of payment despite his efforts and dedication in crafting the trophies.

Roxas countered Albea's claims, asserting that the organization had indeed paid him 150,000 pesos last year for his services, albeit without an official receipt. He explained that this was intended as a gesture to enhance the winners' experience beyond the standard crystal trophies.

During this year's finals, Roxas acknowledged communication with Albea, but cited backstage chaos on the day of the event as hindering immediate payment. He clarified that due to procedural requirements, including the submission of proper documentation like billing statements, Albea's invoice was delayed until June 15, despite earlier conversations with staff.

Roxas expressed disappointment over Albea's premature social media post, noting ongoing efforts to resolve the issue through proper channels. He emphasized the organization's commitment to paying suppliers promptly, once all necessary paperwork is in order.

Roxas further highlighted their support for Albea's work, emphasizing that the delay in payment was not indicative of any intention to withhold funds, but rather a procedural necessity to ensure accountability and compliance with tax requirements.
