Monkeypox Case In Quezon City: What You Need To Know
FILE
In a recent update, Quezon City officials revealed that the patient who tested positive for monkeypox had been to two different spots in the city, sparking a quick response from local health authorities.

On August 15, the patient visited a dermatology clinic in Quezon City to address some concerning skin issues. The symptoms, including lesions on the face, arms, and genital area, were indicative of monkeypox (mpox). After a thorough examination and testing, the diagnosis was confirmed.

Quezon City's Quick Response Team sprang into action, diving into contact tracing to identify anyone who might have been exposed. It was discovered that the patient had also been to a spa on August 11, where they received services.

In response, the city government has identified 41 close contacts of the patient. Of these, seven are residents of Quezon City. All those identified are now under quarantine and being monitored closely to ensure their safety and prevent further spread.

Adding to the situation, the spa was shut down by authorities after it was found to be operating without the necessary business, sanitary, and fire inspection permits.

Quezon City officials are working diligently to manage the situation and ensure public health and safety.
