In a statement released today, the National Task Force-West Philippine Sea expressed strong condemnation for the aggressive actions of China Coast Guard (CCG) and Chinese Maritime Militia (CMM) vessels during a routine resupply and rotation mission to BRP SIERRA MADRE (LS 57) at Ayungin Shoal.

The morning incident involved harassment, blocking, deployment of water cannons, and dangerous maneuvers by CCG and CMM vessels, resulting in a minor collision between CCG vessel 21555 and Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) vessel MRRV 4407. Subsequent dangerous blocking maneuvers caused another collision with supply boat Unaizah May 4 (UM4), leading to injuries to at least four personnel.

UM4, damaged and with injured crew, was escorted back to mainland Palawan by MRRV 4407. Despite these challenges, Unaizah May 1 (UM1) successfully completed its resupply mission at LS57.
