In a recent entrapment operation conducted in Pasay City, the National Bureau of Investigation – Cybercrime Division (NBI-CCD) apprehended Mariejoy Lagman, a Court Officer of RTC Branch 108, on multiple charges including Direct Bribery and Knowingly Rendering Unjust Judgment. Lagman stands accused of violating various provisions of the law, including the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act, Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees, and the Code of Judicial Conduct.

The operation, initiated following a request from the Supreme Court, revealed allegations of extortion within RTC Branch 108, Pasay City. NBI-CCD operatives, in collaboration with a defendant's liaison officer, successfully established communication with one of the parties involved in a litigated case. Subsequent investigations confirmed that money was being extorted from defendants in exchange for favorable judgments.

On May 23, 2024, NBI-CCD operatives, accompanied by the defendant's liaison officer, delivered marked money amounting to P 6 Million to Lagman at the staff office of RTC Branch 108, Pasay City Justice Hall. In return, Lagman provided a Court Order dismissing the case in favor of the defendant. However, upon receipt of the incriminating evidence, NBI-CCD agents swiftly intervened, apprehending Lagman on the spot.
