FILE
In a bold move against cybercrime, NBI operatives, under the directive of Director Judge Jaime Santiago (Ret.), cracked down on a syndicate involved in breaching government websites. Eden Glenn Petilo y Oñez, Carlo Reyna y Placido, John Kenneth Macarampat, and Leonel Obina y Laraga were apprehended in Tagaytay City, Cavite, following an intense entrapment operation.

The arrests, spurred by recent unauthorized breaches of sites like COMELEC and Sky Cable, targeted the cybercrime group known as "Blood Security Hackers." These hackers allegedly compromised sensitive data for sale.

NBI Cybercrime Division (NBI-CCD) swiftly acted, conducting surveillance and apprehending suspects during a data transaction involving Sky Cable subscriber information on July 9, 2024. The suspects face charges under the Data Privacy Act and Cybercrime Prevention Act.

Director Santiago praised the NBI-CCD for their swift response, emphasizing the bureau's relentless pursuit of cybercrime offenders.
