NBI: Suspended Bamban Mayor Alice Guo's Identity Mismatched In Clearance Application

The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) revealed discrepancies in the identity of suspended Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo, further implicating her in identity falsification. NBI Director Jaime Santiago disclosed that recent fingerprint comparisons did not match records associated with an Alice Guo who applied for an NBI clearance in 2005, casting doubt on Mayor Guo's claimed identity as a Filipino.

Mayor Guo, born on July 12, 1986, faces allegations of using late registration to pose as a Philippine citizen, a claim contradicted by NBI findings. According to Santiago, investigations failed to verify the existence of the supposed 2005 applicant at the listed address, reinforcing suspicions of deliberate identity manipulation.

In a press briefing, Santiago emphasized the NBI's conclusion that Guo Hua Ping, a Chinese passport holder, and Mayor Alice Guo are indeed the same person. This confirmation aligns with earlier discoveries that their fingerprints matched, despite Guo's attempts to disassociate herself from her Chinese identity.

Senator Risa Hontiveros, amid ongoing inquiries into a raided Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) hub linked to Mayor Guo, underscored that the NBI's findings would not affect the Senate's investigation. The hearings are set to resume on July 10, continuing to scrutinize Guo's tenure and alleged ties to illicit activities.

Meanwhile, the NBI's revelations are expected to bolster legal actions by the Office of the Solicitor General and the Commission on Elections (Comelec) against Guo. Comelec Chairperson George Garcia confirmed plans to compare Guo's 2005 fingerprint registration with their voter database, further complicating her legal position ahead of upcoming proceedings.

The development marks a pivotal moment in the unfolding controversy surrounding Mayor Alice Guo, highlighting the complexities of identity and governance in the Philippines' political landscape.
