Dismissed Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo is gearing up for a political comeback in the 2025 midterm elections. Yes, you read that right. Despite facing some serious legal hurdles, Guo is determined to give it another shot and let the people decide her fate.

In an exclusive chat with News5, her legal counsel, Atty. Stephen David, revealed that Guo plans to run as an independent candidate. “She will run because right now, I'll be preparing for all the documents for her to file the COC (Certificate of Candidacy),” David confidently stated.

Guo, who was dismissed over allegations of misrepresentation, isn’t letting her past controversies stop her from fighting for her spot. David shared that Guo’s decision to run again stems from her unwavering love for Bamban and a desire to let voters have the final say, instead of being booted out on technical grounds.

Just to recap, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) previously filed misrepresentation charges against Guo after discovering her fingerprints matched those of a Chinese national named Guo Hua Ping. The issue? One of the basic requirements for candidacy is being a Filipino citizen—something the Comelec believes Guo might not be able to prove.

But here’s the kicker: Comelec spokesperson John Rex Laudiangco clarified that they can't automatically reject Guo's COC filing. Why? Because the investigation is still ongoing and the cases remain pending.

Interestingly, Joey Salting, Guo’s former rival, has also thrown his hat in the ring for Bamban mayor. Looks like the upcoming elections are about to get even more heated.

With Guo back in the game and ready to battle it out for Bamban, 2025 is shaping up to be an election to watch. Will she reclaim her seat? Guess we’ll have to wait and see!
