President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. announced a financial assistance package of PhP265 million for the residents of Davao Region grappling with the aftermath of the shear line and low-pressure area. This aid supplements the emergency fund transfer already extended by the government to assist families affected by the recent natural disasters.

Marcos emphasized the urgency of the aid, stating, “I released the PhP265 million to make sure that the response is immediate and that people feel they have support, realizing they have resources to meet their immediate needs."

The President led a comprehensive situation briefing in Davao City on Wednesday afternoon, where he commended local officials for their rapid response to the crisis.

Provinces severely affected, including Davao del Norte, Davao Oriental, Agusan del Sur, and Davao de Oro, will each receive PhP30 million. Surigao del Sur and Maguindanao del Sur will receive PhP25 million each. Additionally, cities such as Butuan and Davao, along with the province of Davao Occidental, will receive PhP20 million. Agusan del Norte will get PhP15 million, while Cotabato and Bukidnon will receive PhP10 million each.

He expressed his administration's commitment to addressing immediate needs beyond the relief assistance provided by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD). He applauded the local chief executives for their prompt provision of food assistance in coordination with the DSWD.

Recognizing the critical role of infrastructure in disaster response, Marcos instructed government agencies to expedite clearing operations for affected roads, bridges, and infrastructures. This directive aims to ensure the swift delivery of aid and relief to affected areas, along with the provision of ample potable water.
