President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has addressed the serious death threats recently directed against him, First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, and Speaker of the House Martin Romualdez, voicing deep concern over the chilling rise in such dangerous rhetoric.

In a video shared with the media today, November 25, 2024, Marcos expressed alarm over the growing public discussion of curses and threats against his life. He made it clear that this type of behavior is unacceptable, particularly when it involves threats toward a sitting president.

“Kung ganun na lang kadali ang pagplano sa pagpatay ng isang Presidente, papaano pa kaya ang mga pangkaraniwan na mamamayan?” Marcos asked, emphasizing the gravity of the situation. "If it's so easy to plan the assassination of a president, what does that mean for ordinary citizens?" he continued, suggesting that these threats are not just personal but a broader threat to the safety of all Filipinos.

Marcos took the opportunity to reiterate his commitment to ensuring the rule of law prevails, no matter the circumstances. “Yang ganyang kriminal na pagtatangka ay hindi dapat pinapalampas. Yan ay aking papalagan,” he said, promising to take strong action against any such criminal attempts.

The president's response is seen as not just a defense of his own life, but also a clear statement that these threats, and the violence behind them, have no place in the country. By speaking out, Marcos is sending a message that the government will not stand idly by in the face of these dangers.
