In an effort to ensure the safety and security of travelers during the Holy Week, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has intensified its monitoring efforts under Oplan Semana Santa. Last March 26, the PCG reported monitoring a staggering 46,756 outbound passengers and 43,421 inbound passengers across all ports nationwide.

This extensive surveillance also involved the deployment of 3,341 frontline personnel across 15 PCG Districts. These personnel meticulously inspected 565 vessels and 1,267 motorbancas to guarantee compliance with safety protocols and regulations.

Recognizing the heightened influx of passengers during this period, the PCG has placed all its districts, stations, and sub-stations on heightened alert from 24 to 31 March 2024. This proactive measure aims to effectively manage the surge in port activities and ensure smooth sea travel operations.

To facilitate communication and address inquiries or concerns regarding sea travel protocols, the seafaring public is encouraged to reach out to the PCG through its official Facebook page or contact the Coast Guard Public Affairs Service at 0927-560-7729.

With Oplan Semana Santa in full swing, the PCG remains steadfast in its commitment to safeguarding the welfare of travelers, promoting maritime safety, and upholding security standards during the Holy Week period.
