Pepsi Paloma Movie Won't Hit PH Theaters On Feb 5 - Here's Why

Looks like the highly anticipated Pepsi Paloma movie won’t be making its way to Philippine cinemas on February 5 after all. Director Darryl Yap took to social media to break the news, citing incomplete documentary requirements from the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) as the main reason for the delay.

What Happened?

In his official statement, Yap explained:

"Bigo po ang panig ng inyong lingkod na agarang makumpleto ang mga dokumentong hinihingi ng pamunuan ng MTRCB. Kaya't imposible pong maipalabas sa mga sinehan ang ating pelikula sa February 5."

With this unexpected hurdle, Yap and his team are now weighing their options—either premiering the film internationally first or shifting their focus to streaming platforms. However, he assured fans that whatever the final decision is, they will be the first to know.

A Possible Delay Until When?

In the comments section of his post, Yap hinted that finding a new screening date might take a while, especially since February and March are already packed with movie releases. But he reassured everyone that once all the necessary documents are in order, they will secure a new playdate.

Despite the setback, Yap’s final words in his post carried a poetic note:

"Natanggal man ang tansan, nananatili ang iyong ispirito."

(Translation: Even if the bottle cap is removed, your spirit remains.)

For now, fans will have to wait a little longer to see the film. Whether it hits local cinemas, international theaters, or streaming platforms first, one thing’s for sure—the story of Pepsi Paloma is far from over.
