PH Government Commits Diplomatic Efforts To Ease Tension In West Philippine Sea

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. saidhat the Philippine government is committed to utilizing diplomacy to communicate with Chinese leadership, emphasizing the importance of de-escalating tension in the West Philippine Sea (WPS) and avoiding potential confrontations.

President Marcos expressed hope that enhanced maritime cooperation with Australia and Japan could contribute to easing tensions in the region. He highlighted ongoing efforts at various levels of dialogue and stressed the importance of constructive engagement to prevent further escalation.

Additionally, President Marcos acknowledged the positive outcomes of the concluded Multilateral Maritime Cooperative Activity involving the Philippines, US, Australia, and Japan, noting the importance of interoperability and shared lessons in enhancing regional security.
