It’s all about stronger partnerships and closer ties as President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. sat down with President Surangel Whipps Jr. of the Republic of Palau in Malacañang Palace on February 24, 2025. The two leaders had a productive bilateral meeting, discussing ways to boost cooperation in key areas such as fisheries, trade, investment, and connectivity.

But it wasn’t just about business. With nearly 3,000 Filipinos living and working in Palau, both presidents also explored opportunities for collaboration in health and labor—recognizing the vital role OFWs play in the island nation. Their talks set the stage for an even stronger PH-Palau partnership, leading up to the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2027.

As both countries continue to work together, this meeting signals exciting opportunities ahead for Filipinos and Palauans alike.
