PNP Investigates Duterte's Claim On Quiboloy's Whereabouts, Considers Obstruction Of Justice

The Philippine National Police (PNP) is currently assessing whether former president Rodrigo Duterte could be held liable for obstruction of justice. This follows Duterte's assertion of knowledge regarding the whereabouts of wanted pastor Apollo Quiboloy.

PNP Spokesperson PCol. Jean Fajardo stated that they must first understand the context of Duterte's remarks before making any conclusions. "Was it said to tease his audience? Or was it meant as a joke? We need to obtain the full context of their conversation," Fajardo mentioned during a Tuesday press briefing.

Fajardo emphasized the importance of speaking with individuals present during Duterte's statement, including those who may have recorded it. "Relying solely on a simple video may constitute hearsay," she added.

Quiboloy and his associates face charges of sexual abuse and human trafficking. Regarding the recent police operation at the Kingdom of Jesus Christ headquarters in Davao City aimed at arresting Quiboloy, Fajardo affirmed that the PNP is investigating any potential operational lapses but maintained the operation's regularity.

The PNP encourages anyone with information on Quiboloy's whereabouts to come forward and assist authorities.
