In a display of cordial diplomacy and enduring friendship, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and First Lady Louise Araneta-Marcos rolled out the red carpet for Singaporean President Tharman Shanmugaratnam and Mrs. Jane Ittogi Shanmugaratnam during their recent visit to the Philippines.

The official ceremony kicked off with grand arrival honors, setting the tone for what would be a significant day in Philippine-Singapore relations.

After the ceremonial welcome, the leaders moved on to the guest book signing, a tradition symbolizing mutual respect and the continuation of diplomatic ties. The day’s events were rounded out with a private tête-à-tête between President Marcos and President Shanmugaratnam, reflecting on the shared history and future aspirations of both nations.

This visit highlights the robust partnership between the Philippines and Singapore, celebrating 55 years of formal diplomatic relations. It’s a notable milestone, especially considering that Singapore has become the Philippines' 8th largest trading partner, with bilateral trade soaring to USD 10.62 billion in 2023. Moreover, the strong bond between the two countries is evident in the vibrant Filipino community in Singapore, which is home to approximately 200,000 people.
