President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. announced the rescinding of a clandestine agreement between the Philippines and China, purportedly brokered during the presidency of Rodrigo Duterte.

Speaking at the 50th anniversary of the Foreign Correspondents Association of the Philippines (FOCAP), President Marcos stated that despite being informed of the agreement last year, he promptly decided to annul it. Addressing concerns about accountability, President Marcos expressed frustration over the lack of clarity surrounding the agreement's content and its secrecy.

He emphasized the need for transparency, questioning why the previous administration concealed the pact from the Filipino people. While acknowledging difficulties in obtaining information, President Marcos affirmed that without concrete evidence of the agreement, it poses no legal liability to Duterte. He expressed eagerness to examine the document firsthand to shed light on its details.
