In the latest Social Weather Survey covering June 23 to July 1, 2024, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. saw a rise in his satisfaction ratings, with 55% of Filipinos expressing contentment with his performance. This represents an increase from the 50% satisfaction recorded in March 2024. However, a substantial 28% still voiced dissatisfaction, and 15% remained undecided.

This uptick has lifted President Marcos’ net satisfaction rating to +27, categorized by the Social Weather Stations (SWS) as moderate. This is a notable improvement from the moderate +20 in March, although it's still a decline from the good +47 rating he enjoyed in December 2023.

When asked about his promises, opinions varied widely. Only 9% believe that all or nearly all of Marcos’ promises will be fulfilled. A further 17% expect most to be met, while nearly half (48%) think only a few will be realized. Notably, 23% believe that almost none or none of his promises will come to fruition. This contrasts with the 48% who were optimistic about his promises back in October 2022.

On the international front, 8% of respondents feel the Philippines has gained "very much" from Marcos’ foreign visits, while 37% believe there has been "much" benefit. However, these figures represent a decrease from previous surveys, indicating a mixed reception of his diplomatic efforts.

Looking to the future, 22% of Filipinos believe President Marcos will succeed, down from 44% in October 2022. In contrast, 18% think he will not succeed, and a significant 60% find it too early to determine his eventual success.

Breaking down satisfaction by demographics, President Marcos saw stronger approval ratings in rural areas (+34) compared to urban areas (+23). His approval was also higher in Mindanao (+5) and the Visayas (+26) compared to Metro Manila (+30) and Balance Luzon (+38).

The survey reveals that satisfaction levels are also influenced by expectations regarding his promises and foreign visits. Those who expect all or most promises to be fulfilled or see significant benefits from his foreign trips tend to be more satisfied.
