Communications Secretary Cesar Chavez has confirmed that President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. won’t be attending this year’s United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). But don't worry, the Philippines will still be well-represented. Foreign Affairs Secretary Enrique Manalo is stepping up to take the President’s place at the high-profile event.

Manalo will lead the country’s participation in discussions on global issues, from climate change to international security. As one of the key players in the administration, he’s expected to bring the Philippines’ stance on major challenges to the table, making sure our voice is heard on the world stage.

Chavez didn’t elaborate on why President Marcos won’t be attending this year’s UNGA, but rest assured, the Philippines remains committed to global cooperation through Manalo’s capable leadership.
