President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. continues to gain the trust of the Filipino people, according to the latest OCTA Research Tugon ng Masa (TNM) survey for the second quarter of 2024. The survey reveals that 71% of adult Filipinos now trust President Marcos, marking a 2 percentage point increase from the 69% trust rating recorded in the year's first quarter.

While the increase might seem modest, it shows steady confidence in the President's leadership. Only 10% of respondents expressed distrust, and 19% remain undecided, highlighting the overall positive sentiment toward his administration.

On the other hand, Vice President Sara Duterte saw a slight dip in her trust rating. According to the same survey, 65% of Filipinos said they trust her, down by 3 percentage points from the 68% rating she received in the first quarter. Despite this decline, which falls within the survey's margin of error, Duterte maintains a strong majority backing. However, it’s worth noting that this is the second consecutive quarter where her trust rating has dipped, following a downward trend that began in December 2023.

The survey underscores the evolving political landscape in the Philippines, where public trust can shift quickly based on current events and perceptions of leadership. As both leaders continue their terms, the coming months will be crucial in solidifying or challenging these trends.
