On July 25, 2024, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. took a firsthand look at the severe impact of Super Typhoon Carina and the enhanced southwest monsoon, or habagat, in Valenzuela City. His visit came after relentless heavy rains had caused extensive flooding, with La Mesa Dam overflowing and leaving many areas submerged in chest-deep water.

During his inspection, the President visited the Command Center to assess the situation and the ongoing response efforts.

Valenzuela City remains one of the hardest-hit areas, with floodwaters still a major concern. According to local reports as of 8:00 PM yesterday, nearly 4,839 families, totaling around 18,868 individuals, have sought refuge in 68 evacuation centers. Unfortunately, some of these centers had to be evacuated themselves due to rising floodwaters.
