In a move that sparked interest and curiosity, Davao City 1st District Representative Paolo “Pulong” Duterte gave his sister, Vice President Sara Duterte, the green light to use his congressional office indefinitely. In a letter addressed to House Committee on Good Government and Public Accountability Chairman Joel R. Chua, Pulong expressed his full support for his sister as she discharges her daily duties from his office.

But here’s the kicker: VP Sara is apparently ready to work in Pulong’s office no matter the conditions. “She is amenable to stay... even without electricity and running water and during periods of maintenance,” Pulong wrote, underscoring his sister’s flexibility and commitment.

Pulong also assured Chairman Chua that no funny business would take place during the Vice President's stay. He guaranteed that “no illegal acts or unlawful activities shall be committed” by VP Sara, her security, or her staff while they’re on the premises.

This arrangement is also tied to VP Sara’s visits to Undersecretary Zuleika Lopez and other Office of the Vice President (OVP) personnel currently detained under the custody of the Office of the Sergeant-at-Arms in the Legislative Security Building.

It’s a unique setup, but one that Pulong seems confident will work. Whether it’s a sign of sibling support or a practical solution, this story certainly adds an interesting twist to the inner workings of Philippine politics.
