Big news in the business world: Mr. Alfredo “Al” S. Panlilio, Chair of Maya Bank and Director of PLDT/SMART, is officially taking the reins as the 77th President of the Management Association of the Philippines (MAP) for 2025. With a track record that screams leadership and innovation, Al’s election promises an exciting year ahead for MAP.

A Vision for Digital Transformation

Al isn’t new to leading game-changing initiatives. As a founding member under the Digital Infrastructure pillar of the Private Sector Advisory Council (PSAC) since its launch in 2022, he has been front and center in driving the Philippines’ digital transformation. And let’s not forget his impressive run as President and CEO of PLDT and SMART – where he played a pivotal role in modernizing the telco landscape between 2019 and 2023.

A Powerhouse Career

Before his achievements in the telecom sector, Al made waves at MERALCO as the SVP and Head of Customer Retail Services and Corporate Communications. He also wore several leadership hats under the MERALCO Group, including Chair of Radius Telecoms, Pure Meridian Hydropower Corp., and Powersource First Bulacan Solar, among others. His experience spans telecommunications, energy, and digital finance—industries at the heart of innovation and progress.

Al’s Passion for Sports: From the Court to the Boardroom

But Al isn’t all business. He’s a staunch advocate of sports and its role in nation-building. As President of the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP), he led efforts to host the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 in the Philippines. He’s also part of the FIBA Central Board and Asia Board, the Philippine Olympic Committee, and the National Golf Association of the Philippines. For Al, sports aren’t just a game—they’re a path to a stronger, more united country.
