Alas Pilipinas secured their first-ever podium finish at the continental level, clinching bronze in the 2024 AVC Challenge Cup. With an electrifying performance witnessed by passionate fans at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum in Manila, Alas Pilipinas swept Australia in a triumphant battle for third place.

Despite facing doubts due to limited preparation time, Alas Pilipinas showcased unwavering determination and skill. "Really, I’m happy and I’m grateful. I have no words to express how happy I am," expressed Philippines head coach Jorge Souza de Brito. "They fight every single day, since they are really young to make history here, and now history has been made because of them, because they trusted themselves today."

The intense match began with Australia fiercely contesting the Philippines' early lead, but Sisi Rondina's crucial backrow attack sealed the first set for Alas Pilipinas. From there, the Nationals demonstrated sheer dominance, led by the dynamic duo of Eya Laure and Angel Canino, who propelled their team to a commanding victory in the second set.

In the third set, Laure and Thea Gagate spearheaded an unstoppable offensive, securing an insurmountable lead and culminating in a resounding triumph for Alas Pilipinas. Canino emerged as a standout performer once again, tallying 14 points, while Rondina, Laure, and Gagate showcased remarkable performances, solidifying their team's historic achievement.

Amidst their remarkable journey, Jia De Guzman's exceptional playmaking earned her the title of Best Setter, while Angel Canino's stellar performance earned her the title of Best Opposite in the tournament.

Australia, exceeding expectations by reaching the semifinals, concluded their campaign with a commendable fourth-place finish, with Caitlin Tipping emerging as their top performer.

This historic bronze medal for the Philippines not only marks a significant milestone but also sets a promising trajectory for the nation's women's volleyball team, inspiring future generations and igniting hopes for even greater success on the international stage.
