The dynamic synergy between seasoned player Jia De Guzman and newcomers Sisi Rondina and Angel Canino propelled the Philippine team to success in front of a vibrant crowd of 4,945 fans at Manila's historic Rizal Memorial Coliseum.

Currently ranked second in Pool A with a 1-0 record, the Philippines exhibited remarkable resilience throughout the match. Despite facing tense moments, particularly in the fourth set as Australia mounted a challenge, Alas Pilipinas displayed maturity and composure, clinching the win with key contributions from Canino, Eya Laure, and Fifi Sharma.

Coach Jorge Souza de Brito commended De Guzman's exceptional leadership and skill, highlighting her pivotal role in guiding the team. The cohesive play of Alas Pilipinas, bolstered by stellar performances from both veterans and debutants, underscored their strength as a unit.

Despite initial challenges, including errors in the opening set, the Philippine team swiftly adapted, demonstrating dominance in subsequent sets. Vanie Gandler provided a crucial spark off the bench, while strong performances from Canino, Rondina, and Laure propelled the team to victory.

Canino marked her senior national team debut with an impressive 17 points, while Rondina showcased her prowess with 16 points in her indoor national team debut. Laure contributed 17 points, with Gagate delivering a team-high four blocks to finish with 11 points, and Sharma adding seven points to the scoreboard.

Although Australia had notable performances from players like middle blocker Kara Inskip, who scored 12 points, and Tipping and Burton contributing nine and eight points respectively, they fell short against the Philippines' dominant spiking and service game.
