REGASCO president and LPGMA Partylist founder Arnel Ty recently expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin "Boying" Remulla for his unwavering support of the LPG Industry Regulation Act, also known as Republic Act 11592.

During a recent courtesy visit, Ty took the opportunity to personally thank Secretary Remulla, recalling the time when Remulla, as a Senior Deputy Majority Leader in the House of Representatives, was among the lawmakers who supported the LPG Law.

"We're pleased to have had the chance to visit Sec. Crispin Remulla at the DOJ. We share a good relationship, and in our discussion, I brought up that back in 2021, he was one of the 98 Congress members who signed the bill," Ty shared.

Ty went on to highlight the crucial support the DOJ provides to the LPG industry, particularly through its backing of law enforcement agencies like the Philippine National Police (PNP), Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), and the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI). "The DOJ's full support in filing cases against those involved in illegal activities in the LPG industry is invaluable," Ty added.

According to Ty, having the Department of Justice on board under Sec. Remulla's leadership is vital to combat illegal practices and prevent raids or arrests from being dismissed as mere harassment. "One of the most effective ways to enforce the LPG Law is through legal action, where the DOJ plays a key role," he explained.

Ty reaffirmed his commitment to working closely with the LPGMA Partylist, REGASCO, and various government agencies to ensure the ongoing implementation of the LPG Law. He aims to eliminate generic LPG cylinders from the market and ensure that illegal refillers and sellers of unsafe LPG products are caught and penalized.

Republic Act 11592, signed into law on October 14, 2021, seeks to establish "best practices" in the LPG industry, make it easier for consumers to exchange tanks, and ensure a level playing field in the market. The law also aims to prevent accidents by tightening regulations on proper refilling and distribution, as well as removing all generic, unbranded, and unsafe cylinders from circulation.
