It was an eventful morning at NAIA Terminal 1 as Bauan, Batangas Mayor Ryanh Dolor touched down from Los Angeles—only to be greeted by authorities ready to take him into custody.

The House of Representatives’ Sergeant-at-Arms Napoleon Taas confirmed that Dolor was detained early Thursday, March 27, by a team comprising personnel from the House, the Philippine National Police (PNP) - Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), the PNP Aviation Security Unit (AVSEU), and the Bureau of Immigration (BI).

The reason? A contempt and detention order issued by the House Committee on Public Accounts. Dolor had repeatedly ignored summons to attend hearings on the privatization of the Bauan Waterworks System, prompting lawmakers to take action.

With his detention, the next question is: What’s next for Mayor Dolor? Will he finally address the issue, or is this just the beginning of a bigger legal battle?
