Bestlink College of the Philippines (BCP) is setting the record straight about the issues surrounding its 23rd Founding Anniversary celebration in Punta Belle, Hermosa, Bataan. The event, held on January 26, 2025, has become a hot topic on social media, with various claims circulating about logistical problems and student safety concerns.

Bestlink’s Official Statement: "Not Everything You See Online Is True"

In an official statement, the school administration expressed gratitude to students, faculty, and guests who attended the anniversary event. However, they also addressed the wave of misinformation spreading online.

"We want to clarify that many of the reports going around on social media are not true. These fabricated stories misrepresent what really happened during the event. It seems some individuals are intentionally trying to damage the school’s reputation," the statement read.

The administration assured everyone that they are open to an independent fact-finding investigation, particularly by the local government of Hermosa, Bataan. "We believe they have the necessary information to establish the truth," they added.

What Really Happened? Acknowledging Setbacks

While Bestlink strongly denies the false narratives online, they do recognize that there were challenges in event coordination and transportation.

"There were unforeseen circumstances, especially with the transport service providers we hired. We take this seriously and are actively investigating what caused the logistical problems," the school assured.

They also emphasized that student safety has always been their top priority. "We deeply sympathize with the students who were affected and sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused to them, their families, and even the residents of Punta Belle."

CHED & QC Government Step In

Amid the controversy, the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) has issued a show cause order against Bestlink College for holding the out-of-town event without securing proper approval from CHED's National Capital Region office. CHED Chairperson J. Prospero de Vera III confirmed that an investigation is underway and that sanctions may follow if violations are found.
Adding to the scrutiny, the Quezon City government has also launched its own probe, led by Vice Mayor Gian Sotto. Mayor Joy Belmonte stressed the importance of student safety, stating, "This investigation goes beyond jurisdictional concerns. We need to ensure proper protocols are in place to prevent similar incidents in the future."

The QC City Council's review will focus on:
• Event organization and oversight
• Safety and security measures
• Supervision of students during activities
•Coordination with LGUs and other authorities
• Compliance with national regulation
• Support for affected students and families

Moving Forward: "We Will Do Better"

Bestlink College promised to learn from this experience and improve planning for future events to avoid similar issues.

"As we move forward, we are committed to making sure that all future events are better organized, with minimal risk of logistical setbacks," they said.

For now, the school awaits the results of the investigations while continuing its internal review. Meanwhile, students and parents remain hopeful that accountability will be upheld and necessary changes will be implemented.
