The world has lost a giant—both in the ring and in life. George Foreman, the two-time heavyweight champion, Olympic gold medalist, and beloved preacher, has passed away at the age of 76. His family confirmed the heartbreaking news in an Instagram post, saying he “peacefully departed on March 21, 2025, surrounded by loved ones.”

“Our hearts are broken,” the Foreman family wrote. “With profound sorrow, we announce the passing of our beloved George Edward Foreman Sr. A devout preacher, a devoted husband, a loving father, and a proud grand and great grandfather, he lived a life marked by unwavering faith, humility, and purpose.”

Foreman wasn’t just a boxing legend; he was a man of deep conviction. From his early days as an Olympic champion in 1968 to his reign as a two-time heavyweight champion, his impact on the sport was undeniable. But beyond the ring, he dedicated his life to helping others—whether through his ministry, his mentorship, or his humanitarian work.

“He was deeply respected—a force for good, a man of discipline, conviction, and a protector of his legacy, fighting tirelessly to preserve his good name for his family,” the statement continued.

The Foreman family expressed gratitude for the overwhelming love and support they’ve received, while also asking for privacy as they mourn the loss of the man they were “blessed to call our own.”

Foreman’s legacy will live on—not just in boxing history, but in the countless lives he touched along the way.
