Brace Yourselves: Higher Water Rates Coming In 2025, Says MWSS
FILE
Heads up, everyone! You might want to prepare your wallets because water bills are about to climb next year.

The Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System Regulatory Office (MWSS RO) has approved an increase in water rates starting January 2025. According to MWSS RO Chief Regulator Patrick Ty, the adjustment will help speed up the ongoing and upcoming projects of Maynilad and Manila Water—all geared toward improving their services to the public.

For those under Maynilad, expect an additional P8.11 per cubic meter on your water bill. While this increase might sting a little, the MWSS assures consumers that it will help fund essential improvements like better water supply systems and infrastructure upgrades.

So, while it may mean a bit more on your monthly expenses, the goal is a more reliable and efficient water service for everyone. Let’s hope it’s worth every peso!
