In a show of unity and shared vision, the Philippines, the US, and Japan have pledged to continue strengthening their trilateral partnership, focusing on economic, maritime, and technology cooperation. The announcement came during a trilateral meeting where President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., US President Joe Biden, and Japan’s Prime Minister Ishiba Shigeru reiterated their commitment to a peaceful, secure, and prosperous Indo-Pacific.

President Marcos expressed his optimism about the ongoing collaboration, highlighting the progress made since the Trilateral Joint Vision Statement was adopted in April 2024. "I am confident that our three countries will continue to work together closely to sustain the gains that we have made in enhancing and deepening our ties," Marcos said during the meeting.

The leaders acknowledged significant advancements in areas such as inclusive economic growth, cutting-edge technology, climate cooperation, and maritime security. These efforts aim to bolster the resilience and prosperity of all three nations.

President Biden echoed Marcos' enthusiasm, describing the progress in their partnership as "historic," particularly in maritime security and technology cooperation. He praised President Marcos for his diplomatic handling of tensions in the South China Sea, emphasizing the importance of continuing to institutionalize this trilateral partnership for future generations.

Prime Minister Ishiba also underscored the importance of deepening cooperation across various sectors, noting the substantial achievements since their last summit. The leaders reaffirmed their commitment to working together, with a shared focus on maintaining a rules-based order in the Indo-Pacific region.

This trilateral partnership marks a significant step towards fostering stability and growth in the region, driven by shared values of democracy, rule of law, and human rights. As these three nations continue to build on their collective progress, the future looks promising for their collaborative efforts in navigating global challenges and opportunities.
