The announcement came during a trilateral meeting where President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., US President Joe Biden, and Japan’s Prime Minister Ishiba Shigeru reiterated their commitment to a peaceful, secure, and prosperous Indo-Pacific.
President Marcos expressed his optimism about the ongoing collaboration, highlighting the progress made since the Trilateral Joint Vision Statement was adopted in April 2024. "I am confident that our three countries will continue to work together closely to sustain the gains that we have made in enhancing and deepening our ties," Marcos said during the meeting.
