A multi-agency operation has led to the seizure of 25 kilos of shabu, worth a whopping ₱170 million, at Pier 4 in Tinago, Cebu City. The bust happened early this morning, January 23, 2025, at around 7 AM.

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), working alongside the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), the Philippine National Police Maritime Group (PNP-MG), and other key agencies, flagged down a suspected vehicle on a RoRo vessel arriving from Masbate. Upon inspection, the authorities found the massive haul of methamphetamine hidden inside.

Adding more weight to the operation, two high-value targets were apprehended: a 41-year-old man from Isabel, Leyte, and a 63-year-old woman from Ermita, Cebu City. Both are now in police custody and will face charges for violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 (RA 9165).

The operation was the result of thorough coordination between the Department of Justice, the Bureau of Customs, and the Cebu Ports Authority, who had received intelligence on the illegal drug transport. After the contraband was seized, the PDEA took charge of the evidence for further investigation.

Admiral Ronnie Gil L. Gavan, the PCG Commandant, emphasized that this successful bust is just one of many in their ongoing efforts. "The PCG, along with our partners, remains committed to a united front in combating illegal drugs," Gavan said.

With this operation, Cebu City is reminded of the serious fight against the drug trade—and the unwavering resolve of joint authorities to protect communities.
