CIDG Chief Nicolas Torre is gearing up to file cyberlibel charges against former broadcaster Jay Sonza and a vlogger. Their alleged offense? Spreading a photoshopped image claiming Torre was hospitalized.

“No, it is a fake photo. Photoshop yun,” Torre firmly stated, dismissing the false claims as nothing more than a digital fabrication. The image in question made waves online, causing quite the stir before Torre came forward to set the record straight.

When asked whether this incident is connected to the ongoing controversy involving Pastor Apollo Quiboloy, Torre admitted that the attacks against him have been coming from multiple directions. “Well, halo-halo na ngayon eh. Iba-iba na ang pinanggagalingan ng mga attacks against me, against the organization in general, against the Government in general. Pero sa akin, on the personal note, nakita ko iba-iba na eh. Well, siyempre, I’m one of the personalities na talagang nakikita nila na nagpa-file ng kaso against sa kanila,” he explained, hinting at a broader scheme to discredit his efforts and that of the government.

As for the timing of the case filing, Torre noted that his schedule is jam-packed with official duties. “Tatapusin lang namin itong... Bukas kasi may congressional hearing, Wednesday puno rin ang araw ko. Ready na actually ang case, kailangan ko na lang dalhin sa DOJ at i-file sa harap ng piskal,” he revealed.

And just how many individuals are facing the music for this particular cyberlibel case? “Dalawa muna,” Torre confirmed, hinting that more names could potentially be added to the list.

With a busy week ahead and a cyberlibel case ready to be filed, Chief Torre is clearly not taking these attacks lightly. The battle against misinformation is on, and it seems Torre is more than prepared to fight back.
