Viral photos online
The recent ambush of Datu Odin Sinsuat’s election officer and her husband has sent shockwaves through Maguindanao del Norte, prompting Comelec Chairman George Garcia to push for stricter election oversight in the area.

“I will personally recommend to the Commission en banc that Datu Odin Sinsuat be placed under Comelec control,” Garcia stated. “There have been several violent incidents in the past weeks and months, and I believe this is the best course of action to ensure order and security.”

Tragic Ambush Sparks Outrage

The attack happened in Barangay Makir, targeting Election Officer Bai Maceda Lidasan-Abo and her husband, Jojo Abo. While Lidasan-Abo survived, her husband tragically lost his life.

Mayor Datu Lester Sinsuat strongly condemned the attack, calling on local authorities and residents to help identify those responsible. He also urged the police and military to take immediate action to address the growing violence in the municipality.

“To the criminals behind this senseless act, especially during Ramadan, know that justice will be served,” the mayor declared.
What Does Comelec Control Mean?

If Comelec enforces control over Datu Odin Sinsuat, it will take command of security forces in the area to prevent election-related violence and ensure fair and orderly electoral processes. Given the recent rise in attacks, this move could be crucial in maintaining peace.

As investigations continue, the people of Datu Odin Sinsuat await justice and stronger measures to protect their community.
