The Creamline Cool Smashers continued their impressive run in the Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference with a dominant 25-19, 25-19, 25-18 win over Capital1 on Tuesday at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig. This victory not only extended their winning streak to five matches but also highlighted their firepower, depth, and championship pedigree.

Creamline, now in solo second place with 14 points, is just one point behind the Petro Gazz Angels. Unlike their hard-fought five-set victory over the ZUS Coffee Thunderbelles in December, the Cool Smashers made quick work of Capital1, needing just three sets and 87 minutes to seal the win.

The return of former MVP Tots Carlos was a huge boost for Creamline. She scored 10 points and helped stabilize the team during her two-set stint. With a full roster at his disposal, setter Kyle Negrito shared her excitement, calling it a "happy challenge" to have so many players eager to score. Negrito finished with 14 excellent sets and one ace, earning top honors for the game.

Jema Galanza led the offensive charge with 12 points, while Bea de Leon added eight, including three key block kills. Michele Gumabao and Lorie Bernardo also contributed, with Gumabao scoring six and Bernardo adding five, along with three blocks.

Despite a few struggles early in the second set and late in the third, Creamline’s poise and consistency were on full display. After trailing 6-8 in the second set, the Cool Smashers regrouped and took control, eventually finishing off Capital1 with ease. Their offense was in full swing, with Pangs Panaga delivering back-to-back points to bring them to set point.

Capital1’s Trisha Genesis led her team with 10 points, while Jorelle Singh and Rovena Instrella chipped in with seven and six points, respectively. However, their efforts weren't enough to overcome Creamline's superior play. The Cool Smashers dominated in attacks (41-34), blocks (8-2), and service aces (6-3), though they did commit 17 unforced errors, just three fewer than Capital1's 20.

Capital1 showed moments of brilliance, particularly in the second set, with long rallies and solid defense keeping the game close. A crafty drop ball from Jennifer Macatuno and a double contact violation created some drama, but Creamline’s offensive firepower proved too much. Gumabao sealed the second set with a powerful hit, giving the Cool Smashers a comfortable lead.

Coach Sherwin Meneses maximized his bench depth, testing different combinations and rotations, and Creamline’s depth was a key advantage in this match. Rose Vargas contributed to the team's early lead in the third set, and despite a brief comeback from Capital1, the Cool Smashers quickly regained control, stringing together points while capitalizing on Capital1's errors.

Capital1, now with a 1-5 record, will need to regroup and adjust if they hope to stay competitive in this tough league. With the schedule only getting tougher, they’ll have to find ways to match up against the league’s top-tier teams. For Creamline, it's another day, another dominant performance in their quest for another championship.
