Creamline Cool Smashers Reigns Supreme; Sweep Akari To Claim 9th Title

In front of an electrifying crowd at the Philsports Arena, Creamline Cool Smashers once again proved why they're the queens of the Premier Volleyball League. With a dominant 25-15, 25-23, 25-17 victory over the Akari Chargers, the Cool Smashers not only snatched their second Reinforced crown but also secured their ninth championship in 12 finals appearances—a feat that solidifies their legacy as the league’s powerhouse.

Bernadeth Pons was the star of the show, delivering a performance that screamed MVP. She tallied 19 points effortlessly, backed by 12 excellent digs and 13 receptions, making it clear that she’s a force to be reckoned with. Her MVP-worthy display was crucial in Creamline's overpowering of a determined Akari team.

"Sobrang saya, thank you Lord, since this is my first Reinforced championship," said an ecstatic Pons, who played a pivotal role in this victory.

The match was highly anticipated, but what started as a potential showdown quickly turned into a one-sided affair. Creamline’s swift and commanding performance was capped off by Pangs Panaga’s quick hit, symbolizing their dominance throughout the 60-minute game.

What made this win even more remarkable was the absence of key players. With Tots Carlos and Alyssa Valdez out due to injuries and Jema Galanza on national team duty, coach Sherwin Meneses had to get creative with his lineup. And boy, did it pay off. Meneses masterfully guided the Cool Smashers, proving that even without their stars, they are still the team to beat.

“All of our championships make me proud because each one is special, but this one stands out because we were missing a lot of key players,” Meneses shared in Filipino. “Despite that, our players worked so hard, and we still managed to win the championship.”

The Chargers, riding high on an undefeated streak, looked poised to challenge Creamline but were quickly humbled by the Cool Smashers’ experience and poise under pressure. Akari’s offensive efforts were stifled by Creamline’s rock-solid defense, with players like Bea de Leon and Panaga forming an impenetrable wall at the net.

While Akari’s Oly Okaro tried to lead the charge with 14 points, she found herself constantly up against Creamline’s relentless defense. Despite the loss, Akari’s finals appearance was a valuable learning experience, and they’ll no doubt return stronger next season.

As the confetti fell and Creamline celebrated yet another victory, it was clear that the Cool Smashers aren’t done yet. With a bench full of young talent and a coach who knows how to bring out the best in his players, the future looks bright for Creamline.

“We worked hard for this, training every day to prepare for this moment,” said Michele Gumabao, who stepped up in the absence of the team’s big names. “As long as we support each other with every point, we’re in this together. That’s what defines us.”

As Creamline looks ahead, one thing is certain: the Cool Smashers aren’t just playing for titles—they’re building a legacy. And with the way they’re going, that legacy is far from finished.
