Deadline Extended: Taxpayer Relief Amidst Super Typhoon Carina

In light of the recent devastation caused by Super Typhoon Carina and the ongoing impacts of the monsoon, the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) has announced a new deadline extension for tax payments and filings. Commissioner Romeo D. Lumagui Jr. assured taxpayers that the new deadline will be moved to July 31.

“Excellent taxpayer service means more than just improving our services. It’s about adapting to the real-time challenges faced by our taxpayers,” Lumagui emphasized. The extension is a direct response to the widespread disruptions in transportation, electricity, and internet access that have hindered many from meeting the original deadlines.

Here's a rundown of what's covered by this deadline extension:

- Quarterly Summary List of Sales/Purchases/Importations (for VAT Registered Taxpayer-Non-eFPS Filers) – For the Quarter Ending June 30, 2024
- Sworn Statement of Manufacturer’s or Importer’s Volume of Sales of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Sweetened Beverage Products – For the Quarter Ending June 30, 2024
- e-Filing/Filing & e-Payment/Payment of BIR Form 2550Q (Quarterly VAT Return) – For the Quarter Ending June 30, 2024
- e-Filing/Filing & e-Payment/Payment of BIR Form 2551Q (Quarterly Percentage Tax Return) – For the Quarter Ending June 30, 2024

The extension applies to various Revenue District Offices (RDOs) across Regions III, IV-A, and the National Capital Region, as well as several local declarations.

This move is intended to give taxpayers the breathing room needed to prioritize their safety and recovery amidst these challenging times. If you’re affected, be sure to take advantage of the extended deadline and focus on getting back on track.
