Digging Into The Future: Metro Manila Subway's Tunneling Begins With A Bang
Screengrab DOTr
The Department of Transportation (DOTr) is making waves again, and this time, it’s about something we’ve all been waiting for—the Metro Manila Subway Project.

DOTr, along with the Armed Forces of the Philippines, the Embassy of Japan, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), and Sumitomo Mitsui Construction Co. (SMCC), officially kicked off the tunneling works for Contract Package 103 through a launch event at Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City. And what a way to start. They launched the massive tunnel boring machine (TBM) that’s set to carve its way through the city’s underground, bringing us closer to the subway dreams we've been hearing about.

Dubbed the 'Project of the Century,' this subway is set to revolutionize how we move around Metro Manila. With partners like JICA and SMCC, you know this is going to be top-notch. Imagine cutting your travel time and dodging all that traffic—it’s a game changer.

So, while we might not see the subway trains zooming just yet, this TBM launch is a huge step forward. The next time you're stuck in traffic, just remember: there's a whole new world being built underground, and it's coming for us soon.
