Don't Believe The Hype: DOH Urges Calm Amid Viral Health Concern Rumors

The Department of Health (DOH) has stepped in to address the latest buzz on social media about an alleged international health concern. According to the DOH, the viral posts lack confirmation from both the World Health Organization (WHO) and the country reportedly involved.

“Reliable sources currently do not support circulating posts on social media about an alleged international health concern,” the advisory stated.

The Philippines, as an active participant in the WHO’s International Health Regulations (IHR) network, relies on this established system to monitor and respond to international health issues.

The DOH reassures the public that the country’s disease surveillance systems are operational and constantly monitoring developments. “We are actively verifying all information and will keep the Filipino public updated,” the DOH added.

In the meantime, the DOH strongly urges the public to avoid sharing unverified content from questionable websites or online sources. “Let us not spread misinformation and confusion,” the advisory concluded.
