Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco sat down with Tourism Congress of the Philippines (TCP) President James M. Montenegro on Monday (October 14) at the DOT Central Office in Makati City. Their goal: To map out the future of Philippine tourism and discuss some exciting developments in the industry.

The TCP shared updates on how the tourism scene is shaping up, including collaborations with local governments and private stakeholders. They touched on improving industry standards and aligning marketing strategies to keep Philippine tourism competitive. Montenegro made it clear: the goal is to make sure travelers have even more reasons to fall in love with the Philippines.

Secretary Frasco was all in, presenting the DOT's plans to fortify the tourism value chain. She highlighted partnerships with agencies that enhance tourism, ongoing efforts to promote the country's unique attractions, and a strong commitment to supporting private sector players. According to her, strategic partnerships are the way forward, and bringing everyone to the table is key to crafting policies and programs that will elevate the tourism industry.

The DOT also showed full support for the TCP’s push to expand its membership. They want every accredited tourism enterprise to have a say in shaping the future of Philippine tourism. The goal? Make the industry more globally competitive and ensure equal opportunities for everyone involved.

Joining Frasco at the meeting were TCP Vice President for Visayas Peter Tay, along with several DOT bigwigs, including Undersecretaries Shahlimar Hofer Tamano, Verna Buensuceso, Ferdinand Jumapao, Maria Rica Bueno, and Head Executive Assistant Frances Villarino.
