Duterte To Skip House Hearing Tomorrow Due To Health Issues And Short Notice

Former President Rodrigo Duterte won’t be attending the House Quad-Committee hearing scheduled for tomorrow, October 22. His lawyer, Atty. Martin Delgra III, shared that aside from the short notice of the invitation, Duterte isn’t feeling well and needs to rest.

In a letter addressed to Committee on Dangerous Drugs Chairperson Rep. Robert Ace Barbers, Delgra explained that Duterte only received the invitation on October 20, despite it being dated October 18. The hearing, which involves discussions on various issues related to the previous administration’s anti-illegal drugs campaign, is set to take place at 9:30 AM.

Delgra emphasized that while Duterte intended to attend the hearing, his health and current state needed to be prioritized. The former president had just returned to Davao on October 17 after a series of engagements in Metro Manila, and at his age, such a schedule can take a toll on his well-being.

Duterte, however, expressed his willingness to cooperate and requested to appear before the House on a different date, ideally sometime after November 1.

For now, it looks like the committee will have to proceed without the insights of the former president, but his lawyer assured that he remains ready to participate once his health allows.
