Edcel Lagman Passes Away At 82: A Life Of Integrity, Compassion, And Fearless Advocacy

It is with deep sorrow that the family of Albay First District Representative and Liberal Party President Edcel C. Lagman announces his passing. A staunch defender of human rights and a pillar of Philippine politics, he peacefully passed away on January 30, 2025, at 5:01 PM because of cardiac arrest.

Lagman, 82, lived a life marked by unwavering principles, fearless advocacy, and a relentless pursuit of justice. He was not only a respected lawmaker but also a devoted father, a loving grandfather, and a true friend to many. His daughter, Tabaco City Mayor Krisel Lagman, shared the heartbreaking news, highlighting his legacy of compassion, determination, and integrity.

"He left this world the way he lived his life – with integrity, compassion, and fearlessness," she said. "He fought until the end with the dogged determination, tenacity, and unshakable hopefulness that defined all that he stood for."

Lagman spent his final moments surrounded by his children, sisters, and loved ones—a testament to the deep bonds he nurtured throughout his life. Though he is gone, his legacy will continue to inspire those who believe in the causes he championed.

His family vows to honor his memory by living their lives in a way that would make him proud. As the nation mourns his passing, many will remember Edcel Lagman not just as a formidable legislator, but as a man who dedicated his life to service, justice, and the betterment of his country.
