X, a leading online platform, has unveiled a significant policy change regarding adult content, reflecting a progressive stance on sexual expression. Effective immediately, users are permitted to share material featuring adult nudity or sexual behavior, provided it is consensually produced and distributed.

"We believe that users should have the freedom to create, distribute, and consume material related to sexual themes, as long as it is consensual and properly labeled," stated a spokesperson for X. "Sexual expression is a legitimate form of artistic expression, and we respect the autonomy of adults to engage with such content."

However, the platform emphasizes the importance of balancing this freedom with responsible content moderation. To this end, strict guidelines have been established to ensure that adult content is not displayed prominently, especially to children or users who opt not to see it. X prohibits content that promotes exploitation, non-consent, objectification, sexualization, or harm to minors, and obscene behaviors.

The definition of adult content includes depictions of full or partial nudity, explicit or implied sexual behavior, and simulated acts intended to cause sexual arousal. This encompasses various forms of media, including AI-generated, photographic, or animated content such as cartoons, hentai, or anime.

To follow these guidelines, users who regularly post adult content are required to adjust their media settings. This action places all their images and videos behind a content warning that must be acknowledged before the media can be viewed. Additionally, individual posts containing adult content must be marked with a one-time content warning.

For users under 18 or those who haven't provided their birth date, access to marked adult content is restricted. This measure aims to safeguard younger audiences from potentially inappropriate material.
