Ex-PNP Chief Albayalde Slams 'Disrespectful' Treatment Of Duterte By CIDG Head
Former PNP Chief Oscar Albayalde
Former Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Oscar Albayalde did not hold back when describing how Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) chief P/Maj. Gen. Nicolas Torre III handled former President Rodrigo Duterte’s recent appearance at Camp Crame.

In an interview, Albayalde said the way Torre spoke to Duterte came across as outright disrespectful.

"The first thing that comes to mind is ‘bastos,’ right? Bastos in a way that he wasn’t given due process. He was forced to be there. We all saw it—how he was treated. It was as if they were saying, ‘If you don’t get up, we’ll drag you out and take you upstairs.’ How can we say that to a former president?" Albayalde questioned.

The incident, which involved Duterte being asked to appear before the CIDG in relation to ongoing investigations, has sparked debate about whether proper protocols were followed. While some believe that no one should be above the law, others argue that even former leaders deserve a level of courtesy and due process.

Albayalde’s strong reaction highlights growing concerns about how law enforcement handles high-profile cases—especially when dealing with someone as influential as Duterte. Will this spark a larger conversation about police conduct? Or is it simply the latest chapter in the ever-evolving political landscape of the Philippines?
