The logistics industry and public service sector have lost a great leader. Alberto "Bert" Lina, former Commissioner of the Bureau of Customs and the visionary behind the Lina Group of Companies and Air21, has passed away.

For those who had the privilege of knowing him, Chairman ADL—as he was fondly called—was more than just a business tycoon. He was a mentor, a patriot, and a man deeply rooted in family values and good governance.

One of his mentees shared heartfelt memories, recalling their last meeting in Cebu just a few months ago and how Bert Lina still made time to send a birthday greeting just days before his passing. Their journey together spanned nearly three decades, with Bert Lina imparting not only industry wisdom but also lessons in integrity, service, and resilience.

Many in the logistics world consider his guidance akin to a university—what they fondly call the "Bert Lina Logistics Management University." His influence extended far beyond corporate boardrooms, shaping both businesses and public service careers.

Beyond business, Bert Lina’s heart always beat for the Filipino people. He worked tirelessly, hoping for a better country, stronger families, and a future where service and excellence go hand in hand.

Now, as he takes his well-earned rest, those he mentored carry on his legacy, striving to embody the principles he stood for.
