Finally! Brandon Edwards Set To Make Terrafirma Comeback

After a long wait, Brandon Edwards is finally suiting up for the Dyip in the ongoing PBA Commissioner’s Cup. The 33-year-old Texas native will step in as the team’s new import, replacing Ryan Richards, who wrapped up his stint on Tuesday in a 104-85 loss to NLEX at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.

Head coach Raymond Tiongco shared that Edwards is expected to hit the court this weekend against Meralco. "Friday, hopefully, nandito na yung import namin," Tiongco said as Terrafirma looks to shake off a tough 0-3 start.

A Long-Awaited Return

Edwards’ arrival has been a long time coming. Originally pegged as the Dyip’s import for the last Governors' Cup, he had to sit out due to a knee injury just days before the season started. Antonio Hester took his place, and Edwards went through rehab in the Philippines.

Even after recovering, Edwards stayed in the country and continued practicing with Terrafirma before briefly signing with an Indonesian team. That stint didn’t work out, paving the way for his return. "Hinabol ko siya today, pero yung Indonesia team, medyo na-late yung release ng papers," Tiongco revealed.

Undersized but Familiar

At 6-foot-6, Edwards might not have the towering height most teams look for in a conference with no import height limit. However, his familiarity with Terrafirma’s system is a huge plus. “Kaya ko siya kinukuha kahit undersized kasi alam niya na yung sistema namin,” Tiongco explained.

What’s Next?

Richards, who had six points and seven rebounds in his final game, hands over the reins to Edwards, who is eager to make an impact. As Terrafirma chases its first win of the conference, all eyes will be on Edwards and how he re-integrates with the team this weekend.

Will Edwards be the spark Terrafirma needs to turn things around? Fans won’t have to wait long to find out.
