FILE
Good news for public transport drivers and delivery riders. The government has started rolling out fuel subsidies to help ease the burden of rising fuel costs. According to Transportation Undersecretary Jesus Ferdinand Ortega, the one-time cash grant distribution is already underway and is expected to be completed by the second quarter of 2025—provided that all beneficiary account details are verified and finalized.

Who’s Getting the Fuel Subsidy?

A total of 1,026,306 beneficiaries will receive financial assistance, including:
- 286,306 PUV units
- 600,000 tricycle drivers
- 140,000 delivery riders

This initiative doesn’t just cover public utility vehicles (PUVs) under the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB)—tricycle drivers (monitored by the Department of the Interior and Local Government) and delivery service riders (under the Department of Information and Communications Technology) are also included in the program.

How Much Will Beneficiaries Receive?

The cash grant varies depending on the type of service provided:

• Modern Public Utility Jeepneys (MPUJ) & Modern UV Express (MUVE): ₱10,500

• Traditional Jeeps, UV Express, Minibuses, PUBs, & Filcabs: ₱5,000

• Tourist Transport, Shuttle Services, School Transport, TNVS, & Taxis: ₱4,500

• Tricycle drivers: ₱1,100

• Delivery riders: ₱2,500

What’s Next?

The government assures that the distribution process is ongoing and will be completed within the set timeframe. However, it will depend on how fast account details are verified and finalized.

If you’re a PUV driver, tricycle driver, or delivery rider, stay updated on the process and ensure your account details are correct to receive your fuel subsidy smoothly.
