'God Save The Philippines': VP Sara Duterte Breaks Silence On Impeachment Issue

Vice President Sara Duterte finally addressed the elephant in the room—her looming impeachment—during a press conference on Friday, February 7. And she kept it short but powerful:

"God save the Philippines."

That was Duterte’s only direct remark about the impeachment case filed against her. While many had been waiting for a fiery rebuttal or a lengthy statement, she instead kept things brief, letting those four words do the talking.

But she didn’t stop there. She made sure to express gratitude to her supporters, saying:

"Manalig kayo dahil sa taumbayan ang tagumpay." (“Have faith because victory belongs to the people.”)

Duterte acknowledged that many had been pressing her for comments on the impeachment, but instead of dwelling on it, she focused on thanking those who have continued to pray for, support, and trust her.

Her response leaves room for speculation—was it frustration? A call for divine intervention? Or a subtle dig at the political climate? Whatever the case, one thing is clear: she’s counting on the Filipino people to stand by her.
