Good News, Government Employees! P20,000 Service Incentive Approved For 2024

Government workers, here’s some good news to smile about as we wrap up the year: President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has officially approved a one-time Service Recognition Incentive (SRI) of up to P20,000 for qualified government employees in 2024. 🎉

This recognition comes as a well-deserved “thank you” for the hard work and dedication of government personnel who continue to serve Filipinos day in and day out. Whether you’re a national agency employee, part of a government-owned corporation, or in the military or uniformed services—this incentive has your name on it (provided you meet a few conditions, of course).

Who’s Eligible for the P20K Incentive?

The following groups in the Executive branch will benefit from the SRI:
1. Civilian personnel in national government agencies (NGAs), including those in state universities and government-owned corporations.
2. Military personnel in the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and uniformed personnel from key agencies like the PNP, BFP, BJMP, and the Philippine Coast Guard.

Wait—Are There Conditions?

Yes, there are a few things to keep in mind:
✅ You must be a regular, contractual, or casual employee still in service by November 30, 2024.
✅ You need at least four months of satisfactory service by the same date. If you served for a shorter time, don’t worry! The incentive will be pro-rated based on your length of service.
✅ You must not have received any additional year-end bonuses beyond what’s normally provided under the law.
If you’ve worked less than 4 months, here’s how the pro-rated amounts work:
• 3 months = 40% of the P20K
• 2 months = 30%
• 1 month = 20%
• Less than a month? You still get 10%!

How Will This Be Funded?

For employees in national agencies and uniformed services, the funds will come from their agencies’ budgets. If there’s a shortage, agencies can adjust within their existing operating expenses to ensure you get this well-earned bonus.

As for those in Local Government Units (LGUs), local water districts, and agencies with fiscal autonomy, their respective leaders have the green light to determine the exact amount, depending on their budgets. The maximum, however, is still P20,000.

Why This Matters

This initiative isn’t new. Similar incentives were also granted in previous years to recognize government employees’ contributions. But with the country pushing forward under the Philippine Development Plan 2023-2028 and the President’s 8-Point Socioeconomic Agenda, this is a way to highlight just how much each government worker’s role matters.

So, to our tireless public servants: a huge congratulations and thank you! Your hard work is seen, and this bonus is just one way the government is giving back.
